Find Out Where Your Legislative Candidates Stand on Think New Mexico’s Policy Initiatives!
On November 5, every seat in the New Mexico legislature is up for election.
As you make your decision about who you are going to support, we encourage you to find out where your candidates stand on Think New Mexico’s current major policy initiatives. Please see below for information about how to look up and contact your legislative candidates.
Here are some examples of questions we hope you will ask them:
- Would you support legislation to cap the size of Kindergarten through third grade classes at 20 students?
- Would you support legislation to create a permanent trust fund for health care, which would support Medicaid costs and fund reforms to address the state’s health care worker shortage?
- Would you support legislation to permanently repeal New Mexico’s gross receipts tax on medical services?
- Would you support legislation for New Mexico to join the nine major interstate compacts for health care workers in order to make it easier for doctors and health care professionals from other states to practice in New Mexico?
Here is how to look up and contact the candidates running in your district:
1) Find out which New Mexico State House and Senate districts you live in by entering your address on the New Mexico legislature’s website.
2) Look up email addresses for the candidates running in your House and Senate districts on our handy chart.
3) Send your candidates a quick email asking where they stand on an issue or two that you are passionate about.
If you get a response to any of your questions from candidates, please let us know!
This information is extremely helpful to us as we work to build coalitions in support of Think New Mexico’s policy reforms. Candidates are more likely to support these reforms if their voters are asking about them. Many thanks for your help!
